GARNI GEGHARD $45

Today we will take a trip to Garni and Geghard. First we will visit Garni pagan temple from 1st century AD – the only one remaining from pre-Christian period. It is a splendid example of the synthesis of ancient Armenian and Hellenistic traditions. Walking through the village of Garni we will descend to the canyon nearby to admire exceptional views of unique volcanic rock formations called “the Symphony of Stones”. We will then explore the medieval Armenian architecture – Geghard Cave Monastery (UNESCO site). Some buildings of the monastic complex were carved out of solid rock and possess exceptional acoustics. The name of the monastery derives from the Holy Lance, which was kept here in the middle ages. Here you will also have a chance to drink the crystal clear water coming from mountains which has miraculous properties.

ECHMIADZIN $37,5

In the morning we will take a trip to the religious capital of Armenia, the town of ECHMIADZIN. We will first visit the archeological site of Zvartnots Cathedral, which is a masterpiece of Armenian architecture of 7thcentury. The area is a UNESCO’s World Heritage Site. We will then come to the main Cathedral of ECHMIADZIN. Today it is the Holy See of ECHMIADZIN, where the Catholicos of Armenia resides. Legend tells that it was here that Jesus Christ descended from Heaven to show where he wanted a church to be built.

Today we will have a familiarization tour of Armenian capital Yerevan. We will visit all the major sights, including Republic Square, Opera House, Cascade (museum in the open air), then we will have a nice stop near Mother Armenia statue, providing a great panoramic view of the city. Afterwards via the biggest football stadium in Armenia we reach Genocide memorial. Also on our way back we have an opportunity to see Parliament House, residence of the president and National Academy of Science. The excursion also includes the Food Market with it variety of organic fruits and vegetables.

LAKE SEVAN AND SEVANAVANK CHURCH $37,5

Today we will explore so called “the pearl of Armenia” – Lake Sevan – one of the largest high-altitude lakes in the world. Sevan is located at 1900m above sea level, surrounded with snow-covered mountains. In old times people called it Geghama See because of it big sizes. Total surface area of the lake is about 1240 m. If we are lucky we will witness the change of colors from the peninsula providing great views of the lake. Here we will also visit a 9th century monastery, once a place of exile for nobility.

KHOR VIRAP AND NORAVANK $50

The road leads through the plains of Ararat, where all of a sudden an attractive picture of Khor – Virab Monastery appears. Today this complex embodies the significant historical event – Adoption of Christianity in Armenia in 301 AD. We stop to see the Complex and make photograph of Ararat Mountain.After two hours ride we enter the world of full – flowing rivers, fascinating waterfalls, caves and snowy mountain peaks of Vayots Dzor Province. We pause near the village of Areni which is famous for its red dry wine. Noravank Monastery is situated on the hill of the twisted gorge, among the freakish plumb rosy cliffs. Noravank Monastery, really the place of breathtaking natural beauty, provides great opportunities for taking pictures.

LAKE SEVAN AND DILIJAN NATIONAL PARK $50

In the morning we will explore the resort town of Dilijan. Located in the midst of “Dilijan National Park” the area is often referred to as “the little Switzerland”. Here we will visit the ethnographic center, which will give us the idea of the 19th-century Dilijan. We will have a pleasant stroll down the museum street, with the buildings preserved from 19-century, visiting also a woodcarver’s studio and a ceramics workshop. Afternoon visit to Haghartsin medieval monastery, hidden in the forests of Dilijan National Park.
